Every individual has the right to have a formal education. And to those who have the incapability, it seems that it is hard for them to achieve education if they have to go with the same methods done in traditional schooling. That is why special education is introduced. Special education is another kind of educational system which is intended to provide the needs of individuals who have physical and mental disabilities such as physical handicaps, sensory (visual and hearing) impairments, intellectual incapacity (psychological retardation and autism), learning disabilities speech impairment and those with behavioral disorders like ADHD.

Special education is not an alternative to traditional school because it only provides unconventional learning primarily accessible for the special ones. Schools that offer special education seek to address some problems of each individual. They also provide useful and efficient ways for the special persons to live a normal life as much as they can through a set of formulated and systematized instructions, service aid, assistance and supports, unique and different learning techniques and adequate transitions services.

Primarily, the objective of special education is to grant the special needs of these special children, youth and adults and to ensure that they have the chance to equal access to quality education regardless of their condition for the betterment of their future. As a result, it makes their perspective in life more positive and very opposite to what they have been experiencing throughout their lives. It will make them enthusiastic and encourages those people more to keep up and to level the challenges of a standard education. With these points of views, it will increase their chance of success in life apart from the disabilities they have.

The Special education focuses on how to effectively provide support and learning so as to improve their comprehension skills. Usually these types of people have hidden talents that need to be discovered forcefully through different activities. When they are properly educated in the most learning-conducive atmosphere, their in-depth skills may be uncovered naturally as well as their extraordinary abilities hidden behind the disabilities.

However, not all can be given with this special type of education. The person must undergo different stages of evaluations and tests before they can avail the special education services. It may depend on the level of disabilities of the individual. The processes they need to take will vary and some basic stages referral, parental and the student evaluation. Reviews and recommendations of appropriate institutionalized methods may also be needed for them to qualify.

In present, more or less six million children, youth and adults are suffering from disabilities. Thus, the demand for special education services has increased unexpectedly. With these circumstances, the number of schools offering special education has also amplified by leaps and bounds.

With proper guidance and dealings with the issues and concerns in regards on finding the right solutions, Special education is a special way to not discern the people of disabilities with the normal ones. It is one way of showing the respect and letting them know that they have the equal right to education. It is the special way of giving them the chance to stand up on their own for their future and be on equal footing with their friends and even foes. Hence, Special education draws out the true potentials of the special people as prime contributors and responsible citizen of the society regardless of their mental and physical drawbacks.

Indeed, I think just about anyone who has ever stopped to consider the challenge of education in the future would agree that it won’t be long until everything is different. The way we have taught humans previously by sitting them down in rows, and making them memorize various facts seems to be quite archaic in a world flowing with information.

Obviously, it makes sense to leverage all of these new technologies, such as virtual reality, simulation, spectral imaging, electronic textbooks, the Internet, game-ification, dream technologies, and direct information downloading to the brain for the future. Okay so, let’s talk about all this for moment shall we?

There was a very interesting article not long ago titled; “Stanford concludes raising $6.2B for new research, teaching model,” published in the Silicon Valley and San Jose Business Journal on February 8, 2012 and written by Lisa Sibley. The article stated;

“The Stanford Challenge has transformed the way our faculty and students work,” said Stanford President John Hennessy in the statement. “We’ve undertaken a new model in higher education, with experts from different fields joining together not only in research, but also in teaching. This kind of collaboration has enabled Stanford to assume a larger role in addressing global problems. We are already making a greater difference.”

Now then, I totally agree that a new teaching methodology and model is needed, very much so, which is something we do indeed discuss here often enough at our think tank. There is no reason we can’t turn the world of education on its head, it’s time to upgrade all we know about the way we instruct our students. In fact, Stanford itself has done experiments with online professor videos and their online lecture series. It is amazing how folks all over the world can tune in and get this information at little or no cost.

If we really want to train people for the new future, then it makes sense to figure out a way to do it less expensively, and more efficiently. That is what Stanford is trying to do, and with that level of infusion into their research budget, they ought to be able to do just that, and why not? Have you looked at the increases of tuition costs in the United States? It’s been going up at between 8 to 10% per year, for quite a while.

In fact, the information that’s being learned by upper division degreed college students may not even be useful by the time they get out of school with that degree in hand. It will be outdated, but those loans will have to be paid back for decades to come. You can see the challenges and it’s good to see that Stanford is working on it. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

There are many ways in which being able to speak more than one language improves our life. Some of them have to do with business opportunities and our careers. In a globalized world, every companies and businessmen seek to hire workers who can speak more than one language in order to reach a larger audience. When taking French courses London workers are aware of this fact, and how important French language is to do business with France. Being multilingual will make you a better applicant than your monolingual counterpart. However, if you run your own business, it will help you get more clients.

As regards travelling, languages are more than helpful since they allow you to move around freely without depending on expensive bus tours, tour guides, and hotel clerks you have to tip every time you ask you need help. Most importantly, language helps you fully understand the culture you are visiting. It is impossible to get the fulfilling and life-changing experience of plunging into a whole different world without knowledge of the language. When seeking to Learn Spanish Dublin people know that this is the only way to go before setting off on a trip to Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, etc.

However, there may be another thing that an extra language will do for you and you are probably unaware of: delaying Alzheimer and boosting brain power. “Learning a second tongue and using it frequently improves cognitive skills and delays the onset of dementia”, is what researchers who compared bilingual individuals with monolingual people said. The study suggests that the Alzheimer’s disease is held at bay for four years more on average compared to monolingual individuals. Plus, bilingual kids who speak their second tongue regularly are better at multitasking and prioritizing tasks compared with monolingual kids.

As the world keeps developing and scientists continue to carry out studies, more and more benefits are discovered from language learning. We wonder what other benefits we will get 20 years from now!

Special education is an often overlooked and under-appreciated element of the larger education sector. Often, people correlate an education degree with grade school, high school or college teaching and administration. But there are a number of other equally important areas of teaching and education, like special education, that give service-minded individuals an opportunity to make a positive and lasting difference in students’ lives.

J.T. Watts is one teacher who chose a career in special education. In his 41 years teaching special education, Watts helped children with varying learning disabilities and, he says, they helped him too. Many of the students Watt’s taught had dyslexia, a disability that causes people to reverse both words and letters.

Dyslexia is only one example of a learning disability.

Special education teachers often help students with disorders that affect intake, processing, comprehension and retaining of information. Watts’ approach was to help increase his students self-esteem by teaching them methods of overcoming their confusion with words and letters. Watts implemented a strict memorization regimen of multiplication tables and state capitals. His students become so efficient that they were eventually able to compete with their teacher. Says Watts, “I did get beat one time on state capitals. I made a careless mistake and the students didn’t miss any. He never let me forget about it, either.”

Special educators, like Watts, employ a number of different methods when teaching special education students.

Modifying the curriculum to best fit a student’s personal learning needs is a popular and successful tactic. When asked about the perks of his job, Watts replied, “I think it is the most difficult and stressful job in education. In the special education field, the teacher turnover is really high. But it is very fulfilling. It’s just worth it to see them progress. When the lights turn on, you can see it in their eyes when they start believing in themselves and say ‘Hey, I can do this. I’m OK.’”

Co-education is common in almost all the advanced western countries like, France, Britain, Russia, America and Canada. It is to be found in many great eastern countries like Turkey, China, Japan and Nigeria and in others parts of the world like Australia and South America.

There are surely some great benefits of co-education. First of all it gives a good training to boys and girls to work together. While studying side by side in different class they learn to cooperate for common aims or purposes. After completing their education they can easily join different professions together. They can work together for common national aims at scientific research centres, in hospital and offices and even in factories to increase national production.

Boys and girls studying together can discuss their subjects and can help each other in understanding them well. Boys may be able to understand and know some subjects or their parts compared to girls. They can explain and discuss them with girls. So girls may be able to explain some arts to boys in their own ways.

Co-education can make boys and girls compete with each other in studies. Both can try to learn more and do better in discussions and at examination. This can surely help raise education standards.

Co-education gives enough chances to boys and girls to study their subjects together from highly qualified and exceptionally able teachers. Both ale and female teachers of good repute can teach in co-educational institutions. Such teachers are not easily available in scientific and technical subjects like Chemistry, Biology, Medicine, Engineering and so on. Even in languages like French and German, we may not easily find highly qualified teachers for higher classes. Then male and female teachers can work together and discuss their problems of teaching. They can co-operate in scientific research or in advanced studies.

Co-education helps boys and girls to understand each other’s problems. Girls can prove successful wives and boys successful husbands after the completion of their education. They can work side by side for a better society as equal citizens.

Yet co-education has some disadvantages. In educational institutions girls cannot always take part in sports, debates, etc alone with boys. They cannot often work actively with boys in social functions. They often have to make separate arrangements of their own games or other activities. But these are not as good as those for boys or those in girls’ college. This gives a feeling of dissatisfaction to the girls.

It may not be possible to teach and explain all the parts of a subject to boys and girls together. There are some topics in subjects like psychology and medicine which cannot be easily discussed before both the sexes. As a result, the teacher may not be able to explain them fully. Sometimes the teacher may not be able to talk about problems of girls before boys and those of boys before girls.

In spite of the disadvantages of co-education we may not be able to do without it. It is necessary to make a proper use of co-education. It is quite possible to get benefits of co-education and avoid most of the disadvantages.

If I type in ’2012 blogs’ to Google, it brings up a staggering 261,000,000 items. Now they may not all be individual blogs, but it would be safe to say if you hadn’t heard about all the gloom and doom merchants you’re probably ‘living under a rock!’ So the big question is:- “Will it happen?” I’ve got to say straight up that I don’t know anymore than anyone else. It may all happen Dec. 21, 2012, or it may happen May 6, 2010, or Jan. 4, 2025 or April 12, 2130. But the odds on it or any other ‘end of world’ scenario being correct are infinitesimally small.

So let’s examine the main claim together: that of the Mayan calendar. Wikipedia has an exhaustive article on the Mayan calendar, that falls in the ‘too much information’ basket, but it does say and I quote:- ” Misinterpretation of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar is the basis for a New Age belief that a cataclysm will take place on December 21, 2012. Dec. 21st is simply the last day of the 13th b’ak’tun. But that is not the end of the Long Count, because the 14th through 20th b’ak’tuns are still to come. Sandra Noble, executive director of Mesoamerican research…considers the portrayal of Dec 2012 as a doomsday or cosmic shift event to be ‘a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in’.” Elsewhere I read that the modern day Mayans consider this claim to be laughable and ridiculous and just an example of Western society hijacking their history.

So mathematically speaking there is no basis at all to speculate on the odds of this because the data is incorrect. But that doesn’t stop people speculating. Remember when those planes were going to fall out of the sky when all the computers failed on Jan. 1, 2000? Or the myriad previous end of world scenarios. The only part of this that is correct is that on Dec. 22, 2012 those blogs will either disappear or produce some new date.

OK, now what has all this got to do with Life Cycles? Why do I care? The answer is I only care because my carefully assembled research means the complete reverse to the 2012 theories. Namely the possibility of my case histories happening by chance alone is equally infinitesimally small!

Read about just some of my research for 2009. I welcome you to check and double check what I say (because that’s exactly what I do before I write). Now if I say to you that for many people (but obviously not for all) there is a very significant Revolution Year when they are 36, then I must be able to point to examples (and sometimes examples of age 24 and age 48 revolutions). I have previously taken famous historical figures and produced evidence of significant life and career change at ages 24, 36 and even 48. I can show you how this applies un the cases of Aristotle, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Winston Churchill, Hitler and JFK. I didn’t comb through a list of dozens or hundreds to get these I just read one summary after another. That’s right every single case I studied is in there. Think about it. Do you think it a mere coincidence that Alan Alda began the MASH series at 36 or Jerry Seinfeld began The Seinfeld Show or Edward Woodward began Callan? Or David Frost who was at a major crossroads as shown in Frost/Nixon or Jerry Lewis who filmed his number one movie “The Nutty Professor” or Frank Sinatra whose career got resurrected from the ashes and I could go on and on and on.

Come on: “you do the maths!” What chance do I have of being correct? Is it 1 year out of 70 (the biblical allotment)? Or 1 out of 30 (an average number of adult productive years)? Or is it simply 1 out of 12 (because I say every 12 years there is a revolution in your life)?

I don’t care what you pick because I’ve just listed 15 consecutive examples and the chances of me getting it right by guesswork would be 12 to power of 15 or 1 in 1,540,702,160,000,000. Now the chance of getting dealt a Royal Flush in spades in a 5 card game of poker is 1 in 2,598,960. A lot smaller but still pretty big (as a poker player I’ve never been dealt one). What do you want to put your money on?:- Dec 21, 2012 (with immeasurably small odds) or something that is 592,814,880 times more certain than the possibility of getting dealt a Royal Flush?

I rant like this because I care that you should not be led by the nose. I’m the first person to say exactly this, but just because I’m a small voice doesn’t mean you shouldn’t listen. I’ll be back soon with arguably the mightiest single Revolution Year of all. Don’t miss it and until then: “May the cycles always bring you good fortune”.

When it comes to professional therapy, continuing education is not only a good idea, but it is mandated in most states to remain licensed. Because most mental health professionals do not have the time to attend strict college classes to further their learning, there are many programs available that count as accredited ways in which a therapist can satisfy those requirements. If you are a licensed therapist looking for creative and convenient ways in which to meet your therapy continuing education requirements, read on for some of the best choices available.

The American Psychological Association is a good research resource for those looking to further their learning credits. They offer a number of ways in which the professional therapist can ear such credits, such as through their APA Online Academy. This service offers multimedia presentations in a series of online courses available at all hours so it is convenient to any schedule. These kinds of classes and presentations can be extremely useful, as they can be completed on an individual time frame and you can work at your own pace, going back as needed to review the material a second or third time. There is an exam at the end.

For other possibilities, those looking for therapy continuing education credits should avail themselves of other websites that offer similar courses. Some of these websites offer discussion boards, up to date articles, and podcasts of lectures from prominent individuals in the field of psychology and psychiatry. The discussion boards on these sites can act as a useful resource to find other ways to earn credits. Listening to current podcasts from advanced therapists can be a great way to stay on top of the latest concepts and methods in the field.

It should be noted that different states have different requirements when it comes to what percentage of credits can be made up of distance or independent learning. Most states will require at least a portion of the learning to be done in a classroom or workshop setting. Check your local state laws and licensing requirements to see where your state is at when it comes to these percentages.

Many states also have imposed specific requirements when it comes to the type of learning necessary to renew a license. For instance, California demands that a portion of therapy continuing education credits come from family and couples training, as this tends to make up a great deal of the average psychologist’s slate. Other states may have similar requirements pertaining to various aspects of psychology.

MLA leaders Rosemary G. Feal, Wholesale Jewelry Mary Louise Pratt, and Domna C. Stanton, as well as Heidi Byrnes and Leo van Lier, among others, have been working to ensure that foreign language educators are included in the process of developing this national language policy.9.

Their engagement with this policy debate is motivated in part by their desire to ensure not only that the federal government’s support for foreign language education is a long-term, sustained commitment that encompasses all levels of schooling, but also that the national language policy supports the learning of languages generally, not just the DoD “investment languages.”

Although foreign language Jewelry On Sale scholars have identified this national security language policy as a central disciplinary concern, many scholars in English studies have yet to explore this issue.

Because the shaping and implementation of this policy is still in progress, their participation in the debate is vital.

The policy could determine the languages that many schools decide to teach, and it could influence the attitudes and worldviews that are cultivated through language arts education. English scholars need to join this effort in order to prompt conversations about what the nation’s language needs are and how a national language policy can create a language-competent society to meet them.

Geneva Smitherman, who helped draft the CCCC’s National Language Policy, explains that the CCCC’s language policies provide compositionists with the “intellectual basis and rhetorical frameworks” for participating in such debates about language policy and for crafting public arguments about the political, cultural, and social value of linguistic diversity.

With its National Language Policy, for example, the CCCC calls for multilingual language learning to be directed to the ends not only of enabling the United States to “participate more effectively in worldwide activities” but also “unifying] diverse American communities” and “enlarging] our view of what is human.”

In addition to drawing on these rhetorical frameworks for shaping macro-level interventions in op-ed pages and congressional panels, however, English scholars also can read the CCCC National Language Policy as a heuristic to inform their work in teaching, curriculum development, and institutional policy writing.

Operationalizing the discipline’s National Language Policy statement at the local level can be a means of influencing how the national security language policy shapes literacy education and writing instruction. Ultimately, the CCCC National Language Policy prompts scholars to work within the present policy debate to broaden the definition of the nation’s language needs so that it represents a wider range of cultural, economic, political, and social interests in U.S. public life.
