Easy Education Ideas on the Future

Every individual has the right to have a formal education. And to those who have the incapability, it seems that it is hard for them to achieve education if they have to go with the same methods done in traditional schooling. That is why special education is introduced. Special education is another kind of educational system which is intended to provide the needs of individuals who have physical and mental disabilities such as physical handicaps, sensory (visual and hearing) impairments, intellectual incapacity (psychological retardation and autism), learning disabilities speech impairment and those with behavioral disorders like ADHD.

Special education is not an alternative to traditional school because it only provides unconventional learning primarily accessible for the special ones. Schools that offer special education seek to address some problems of each individual. They also provide useful and efficient ways for the special persons to live a normal life as much as they can through a set of formulated and systematized instructions, service aid, assistance and supports, unique and different learning techniques and adequate transitions services.

Primarily, the objective of special education is to grant the special needs of these special children, youth and adults and to ensure that they have the chance to equal access to quality education regardless of their condition for the betterment of their future. As a result, it makes their perspective in life more positive and very opposite to what they have been experiencing throughout their lives. It will make them enthusiastic and encourages those people more to keep up and to level the challenges of a standard education. With these points of views, it will increase their chance of success in life apart from the disabilities they have.

The Special education focuses on how to effectively provide support and learning so as to improve their comprehension skills. Usually these types of people have hidden talents that need to be discovered forcefully through different activities. When they are properly educated in the most learning-conducive atmosphere, their in-depth skills may be uncovered naturally as well as their extraordinary abilities hidden behind the disabilities.

However, not all can be given with this special type of education. The person must undergo different stages of evaluations and tests before they can avail the special education services. It may depend on the level of disabilities of the individual. The processes they need to take will vary and some basic stages referral, parental and the student evaluation. Reviews and recommendations of appropriate institutionalized methods may also be needed for them to qualify.

In present, more or less six million children, youth and adults are suffering from disabilities. Thus, the demand for special education services has increased unexpectedly. With these circumstances, the number of schools offering special education has also amplified by leaps and bounds.

With proper guidance and dealings with the issues and concerns in regards on finding the right solutions, Special education is a special way to not discern the people of disabilities with the normal ones. It is one way of showing the respect and letting them know that they have the equal right to education. It is the special way of giving them the chance to stand up on their own for their future and be on equal footing with their friends and even foes. Hence, Special education draws out the true potentials of the special people as prime contributors and responsible citizen of the society regardless of their mental and physical drawbacks.

Indeed, I think just about anyone who has ever stopped to consider the challenge of education in the future would agree that it won’t be long until everything is different. The way we have taught humans previously by sitting them down in rows, and making them memorize various facts seems to be quite archaic in a world flowing with information.

Obviously, it makes sense to leverage all of these new technologies, such as virtual reality, simulation, spectral imaging, electronic textbooks, the Internet, game-ification, dream technologies, and direct information downloading to the brain for the future. Okay so, let’s talk about all this for moment shall we?

There was a very interesting article not long ago titled; “Stanford concludes raising $6.2B for new research, teaching model,” published in the Silicon Valley and San Jose Business Journal on February 8, 2012 and written by Lisa Sibley. The article stated;

“The Stanford Challenge has transformed the way our faculty and students work,” said Stanford President John Hennessy in the statement. “We’ve undertaken a new model in higher education, with experts from different fields joining together not only in research, but also in teaching. This kind of collaboration has enabled Stanford to assume a larger role in addressing global problems. We are already making a greater difference.”

Now then, I totally agree that a new teaching methodology and model is needed, very much so, which is something we do indeed discuss here often enough at our think tank. There is no reason we can’t turn the world of education on its head, it’s time to upgrade all we know about the way we instruct our students. In fact, Stanford itself has done experiments with online professor videos and their online lecture series. It is amazing how folks all over the world can tune in and get this information at little or no cost.

If we really want to train people for the new future, then it makes sense to figure out a way to do it less expensively, and more efficiently. That is what Stanford is trying to do, and with that level of infusion into their research budget, they ought to be able to do just that, and why not? Have you looked at the increases of tuition costs in the United States? It’s been going up at between 8 to 10% per year, for quite a while.

In fact, the information that’s being learned by upper division degreed college students may not even be useful by the time they get out of school with that degree in hand. It will be outdated, but those loans will have to be paid back for decades to come. You can see the challenges and it’s good to see that Stanford is working on it.
